AOD-9604 is a modified analog of the C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (residues 176–191). It was originally developed as an anti-obesity peptide that would retain GH's fat-mobilizing activity while stripping away its anabolic and glucose-affecting properties.
Because it does not raise IGF-1 or affect insulin sensitivity, AOD-9604 has become a common tool in fat-loss and cartilage-repair research where researchers want lipolysis without the systemic GH response.
AOD-9604 stimulates β3-adrenergic receptors in adipose tissue, promoting lipolysis (breakdown of stored triglycerides) and inhibiting lipogenesis (new fat storage).
